About Us

The idea of the foundation was born due to several tennis parents losing their jobs in difficult financial times. The implication on the tennis kids playing local tournaments and traveling internationally was devastating.

The Next Gen Foundation was founded by Gerrie Dippenaar to help truly talented young players whose potential would otherwise go unnoticed and underdeveloped due to their unfortunately disadvantaged backgrounds. Gerrie serves as a director of the foundation – along with Fanie de Villiers and Brett Summers – all of whom were avid sports players in their day and continue to be passionate about talent development in young South African players.

Gerrie reached out to Fanie and Brett as he knew that they were the perfect pair to take on the role of co-directors and the associated roles involving unbiased discernment when making vital decisions such as who, when and how to help as well as their competence with the financial aspects of an organisation.

As mentioned previously, the foundation aims to help financially support players from less fortunate backgrounds in their pursuit of realising their tennis dreams. The goal is to provide them with vital opportunities that every truly talented player needs to expand his/her game and ultimately reach their true potential.

These opportunities include travelling to both local and international tournaments, participating in training camps and clinics, being a part of a tennis program that challenges and improves their game and a plethora of other things that are vital in a player’s developmental process as well as their competitive experience when it comes to pursuing a future in tennis.

Unfortunately, these opportunities come at a price, and this is where we need your help. We are emphatically asking that any individual or corporation who has the financial capacity to donate, consider doing so. It is disheartening to see talented children miss out on opportunities and their game never reaching the potential it should, simply due to their guardians or parents not being able to subsidise it. You would be surprised at how a simple contribution can have an enormously positive and lasting impact on these children’s futures.

Therefore; please help us, and even more so these children, by donating and bringing their dreams to fruition.
