About Us

The idea of the foundation was born due to several tennis parents losing their jobs in difficult financial times. The implication on the tennis kids playing local tournaments and traveling internationally was devastating.

Due to budget restraints, it is becoming more and more difficult for me to tour with the kids. When only a few parents can afford for me to travel the cost on each player is extreme. Ideally we would like to have several kids travel in a squad to minimise the cost to each player. Giving up is not an option as I know the impact I can have on these kids. This motivates me to work harder and find a way to make it work.

Parent’s finances are limited and paying for the coach’s cost for another player catches up to everybody at some stage.

It is disheartening that talented children cannot get the opportunity to pursue tennis because of the financial implication it has on their parents. Unfortunately my support network is not up to the challenge of supporting these kids. The challenge is further complicated not only by talented young players but also young talented coaches that need help. I need to train, house and transport these coaches until they reach a level of qualification to financially support themselves.

I reached out to Fanie to become directors to help make vital decisions such as who and when to help. It is about giving children enough time to broaden their horizons and have fun with tennis.

I coached a young player that was being raised by his grandmother. We managed to find a sponsor for his school fees as well as his accommodation at the Waterkloof High School. With the assistance of these sponsors this young man became the number 1 ranked player in SA. Today he has an academic degree and coaches at an American university. He is very grateful to me for the opportunity we afforded him through tennis and the fun he had doing it.
